This course is ideally suited for contractors wishing to improve or refresh their knowledge of Periodic Inspection Reporting

(PIR) for existing domestic installations.


The course provides the skills you need to carry out inspection and testing of existing domestic electrical installations. There is a certificate of competence for successful candidates. You are shown how to correctly compile and then summarise the NICEIC Domestic Periodic Inspection Report.


The duration of the course is 3 days.


Course Content


  1. Current legislation and health and safety requirements

  2. Practical hands-on electrical testing

  3. Essential electrical inspections and tests


The important factors to be established prior to carrying out periodic inspection reports.

  1. Visual Inspection of domestic properties to BS7671 including current regulatory compliance and older wiring systems

  2. and components

  3. Guidance on compiling the Report, and the reporting code system

  4. Recommendations on summarising the findings within the Report
